Carbon Pricing Mechanisms Expand Globally
More than 70 countries now operate carbon markets or taxes as climate policy tool gains traction.
Carbon pricing has emerged as a critical policy instrument in the global fight against climate change, with over 70 jurisdictions now implementing some form of carbon tax or emissions trading system. The combined coverage of these mechanisms now accounts for approximately 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
